The Risk Analyst is responsible for reviewing and analyzing merchant financials, credit risk, and transactional activity to ensure compliance with applicable laws, card brand regulations, and internal risk policies. This role plays a critical part in monitoring Payarc’s merchant portfolio for fraud and credit exposure across all supported platforms, utilizing sound judgment and proactive risk mitigation strategies.
Responsibilities- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly exception monitoring of merchant acquiring accounts
- Conduct financial and credit analysis of prospective merchant accounts in accordance with Merchant Services Policy and Card Brand regulations
- Monitor merchant activity for fraud, credit exposure, and suspicious or high-risk transactions
- Develop and recommend mitigation strategies and collateral structures to reduce risk
- Periodically review existing merchants to ensure continued compliance with financial guidelines and risk standards
- Communicate merchant account decisions clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Work closely with risk staff, underwriters, and client liaisons to manage risk exposure and resolve account issues
- Establish and maintain relationships with assigned clients
- Provide ongoing education and guidance to merchants regarding risk mitigation strategies
- Support operational needs including merchant account changes, limits, and terminations
- Collaborate cross-functionally to improve risk processes, procedures, and controls
- Ensure Payarc’s internal controls are documented, maintained, and followed appropriately
- Adhere to all internal compliance procedures and applicable bank and card brand regulatory requirements
- Credit authority up to $75,000
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Minimum 6 months of relevant experience
- Risk mitigation experience preferred
- Merchant services underwriting experience preferred
- Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Working knowledge of the acquiring business, including industry trends, business risk factors, and merchant onboarding requirements
- Candidates requiring relocation will not be considered
- Applicants must already be local and able to commute daily.
