Accounting Manager

Vaco is working with a nonprofit organization serving people across Fairfield County. They are currently seeking an Accounting Manager to join the team reporting to the CFO and managing a small team.

The Accounting Manager is responsible for preparing and reviewing financial reports while ensuring the integrity and accuracy of accounting records in accordance with GAAP. This role oversees the accounting close process, supports audits, and partners with leadership by providing timely financial insights.

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including AP, general ledger, and journal entries
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
• Monitor fixed assets and capital grants activity
• Prepare financial reports for leadership and the Board of Directors
• Maintain and enforce accounting policies and procedures
• Complete annual 1099 reporting
• Collaborate closely with external auditors
• Support additional accounting initiatives as needed

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Minimum 5 years of GAAP accounting experience (nonprofit experience preferred but not required)
• Strong Excel and financial systems proficiency
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to confidentiality and teamwork
