Temporary – 12 weeks

Hours:

Full-time (37 hours per week)
We are currently working on behalf of a local authority client to recruit an experienced Temporary Accommodation Visiting Officer on a 12-week temporary contract.
This role sits within the Temporary Accommodation Service and focuses on carrying out regular visits to temporary accommodation properties to verify occupancy, ensure compliance with licence/tenancy conditions, and identify any safeguarding or property-related concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

Carry out scheduled and unannounced visits to temporary accommodation properties
Verify occupancy and ensure properties are being used appropriately
Ensure residents understand and comply with licence or tenancy conditions
Accurately record visit outcomes, occupancy status, and observations
Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns or property condition issues
Liaise with internal teams and accommodation providers to resolve issues
Work in line with lone working policies and health & safety procedures
Manage visit schedules and caseloads to meet performance targets
Respond to enquiries and complaints within agreed timescales
Work collaboratively with Temporary Accommodation, Relocation, Move-On and Lettings teams🔹 Essential Requirements:
Previous experience working within temporary accommodation / homelessness services
Strong understanding of safeguarding and risk identification
Experience carrying out property visits or inspections
Confident working independently and managing your own workload
Excellent record keeping and report writing skills
Ability to communicate effectively with vulnerable households and partner agencies
Knowledge of housing legislation and the Homelessness Code of Guidance (desirable)
