Position: Machine Operator-1st Shift (Forming A2)

Overview

Position Summary
The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate operation of manufacturing equipment that converts raw materials into finished products. This role ensures machines run at optimal performance to meet production goals while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and compliance. The Operator performs machine setup, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and documentation in accordance with Sabert’s operational and safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Operate production machines safely and efficiently according to established procedures and production schedules
  • Continuously monitor machine performance by observing process indicators (e.g., vision systems, heater temperature, product weight) to identify and resolve malfunctions
  • Perform machine adjustments, basic repairs, and routine service to maintain operational readiness
  • Conduct and document preventative maintenance activities as scheduled
  • Perform machine cleaning and sanitation tasks to meet GMP and facility hygiene standards
  • Execute process-specific quality checks, document results accurately, and make equipment adjustments as needed to maintain quality standards
  • Use RF scanners and SAP systems to record material movements, transactions, and production data accurately
  • Maintain adequate levels of production supplies and materials
  • Complete required production paperwork, including batch records, downtime logs, and shift reports
  • Communicate machine or production issues promptly to the supervisor and assist in root cause identification
  • Adhere to safety, GMP, PPE, HACCP, LOTO, and JSA protocols at all times
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in training of new operators and support personnel
  • Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Package and label finished products per customer and internal specifications
  • Assist other operators and provide support as required during breaks or absences
  • Uphold Sabert’s policies on product safety, quality, legal, and regulatory compliance
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervision or management
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred
  • 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in plastics or food packaging
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and interpret machine instructions, safety procedures, and production documentation
  • Familiarity with SAP and RF scanning systems preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and safety
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks
Work Environment
  • Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to varying temperatures, machinery noise, and moving equipment
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) required
  • Shift flexibility, including weekends or overtime, may be required based on production needs
