Job SummaryThe Business Energy Advisor (BEA) develops relationships with small/medium and large business customers, introduces them to Duke Energy products and services, and closes/wins customer projects for energy efficiency, demand response, chargers and outdoor lighting products and services. The Senior BEA focuses on developing relationships with business customers including C‑level/owners (typically $250k–$500k annual revenue), nurtures long-term relationships for cross-sell opportunities, and leverages knowledge of the company’s products and services (lighting, HVAC, Food service, EV).
The role requires technical and financial knowledge and a thorough working knowledge of the company’s products and services. The BEA must understand customer needs and challenges to offer appropriate solutions.
For regulated energy efficiency product and service sales, the BEA process includes identifying customer needs, explaining program benefits, guiding customers through the project process (including trade allies), and assisting with the application process. Tracking and reporting are vital to project success. For non-regulated energy efficiency product and service sales, the BEA process includes securing Customer Disclosure Authorization (CDA) for future discussion with regulated customers.
In Florida, the role involves on-site energy audits and analysis for commercial, industrial and governmental accounts.

Responsibilities- Business Energy Advisor:
Works with commercial customers, qualifying prospective customers in and out of Duke service areas by collecting usage data, building and site information; pipeline/database management; team collaboration/meetings; internal/external/trade show presentations. - Senior Business Energy Advisor:
Prospect/identify small/medium business customer leads in and out of Duke service area; experience in selling, qualifying and closing sales of regulated and unregulated energy efficiency products with SMB customers; qualify prospective customers by collecting usage data, building and site information; explain Efficiency as a Service and move customers through analysis, proposal and closing; gather facility data or work with vendors to develop key data points;
secure signed authorizations for service agreements; work with program management on contract terms; close project sales and ensure EE incentives are processed; tracking and reporting; team collaboration/meetings; external and trade show presentations.

- Business Energy Advisor:
High school diploma and three (3) years minimum of related work experience. - Senior Business Energy Advisor:
Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years minimum of related work experience; in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, high school diploma/GED and seven (7) years minimum of related work experience.
Business Energy Advisor:
- Understanding of building envelope and equipment, energy-related cost drivers, and how energy efficiency reduces costs.
