As the Assistant Grocery Manager, you will help customers make healthy food choices by providing excellent customer service while managing and leading one of the busiest teams in our store.

• Assist the Grocery Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit
• Responsible for ordering and inventory controls, product quality, and supervision of the Grocery team
• Effectively coordinate merchandising and sales through ongoing planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork
• Assist in leading a team that brainstorms to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest experience your customers will receive
• Assist in hiring, teaching, training, and developing the Grocery Team
• Unload and sort through store deliveries
• Ensure execution of all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines/regulations and validate that other Grocery team members are aware of and following these procedures

• At least 18 years of age and 1‑3 years of retail management experience (familiarity with natural foods and alternative diets preferred)
• Dependable and reliable with ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays; walking up to 3 miles per 8 hours is expected
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to give and receive direction in a team environment
• Outgoing and friendly behavior with a positive attitude and ability to interact with customers
• Proven leadership ability to build, motivate, and maintain staff, with knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals
• Strong focus on detail, analytical and problem‑solving skills, and organization/planning ability to prioritize multiple tasks
• Physical requirements:
  
  vertically transfer milk trays (up to 60 lbs.) from 9 to 62 inches for up to 25 hours; vertically/horizontally transfer boxes (up to 50 lbs.) from 5 to 34 inches for up to 25 hours without mechanical assistance; repetitive squatting/kneeling/bending to reach a point 5 inches from the floor for up to 30 hours
