Not your typical hospital cafeteria! Shriners Children's Greenville offers a colorful, upbeat and fun work environment. As a member of our Nutrition Services team, you will be key in the success of creative daily meals for patients, families and staff as well as special event catering. We offer a grill to order breakfast and lunch menu and daily specials. Our patients order from child‑friendly menus that offer a wide variety of choices.
We are always looking for new recipes to try and also offer action stations that include panini, wok, and waffles.
This position will be scheduled for 20 hours per week, Friday, Saturday and Sunday of each week.
Responsibilities- Cook on grill top to order, making sandwiches and salads to order. This position receives the order from the customer, prepares and cooks food according to instructions and performs fast and accurate cooking duties to serve the customer.
- Prepare special diet foods for patients on modified diets and patients with any nutritional or eating problems.
- Serve food attractively and fairly using portion control.
- Ensure food temperatures are within the acceptable range throughout the serving time.
- Effectively utilize leftover food from previous meals and from patient carts, only using top quality.
- Return food items to their proper storage location, wrap, label and date.
- Complete all cleaning assignments as per monthly sanitation audit.
- Keep up-to-date temperature records on foods.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
- At least one year cooking experience in a high‑volume setting.
- Work at a pace consistent with the changing volumes and demands.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of food preparation.
- Excellent customer service skills and provide excellent customer service/satisfaction at all times.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Must be able to lift, walk, stand, stoop, and reach.
- Serve Safe certified.
