PositionOperating Room (OR) Supervisor – St. Francis Downtown
Job SummaryThe Surgery Supervisor is responsible for oversight of staff and day-to-day operations of the unit in accordance with regulations and the organization s policies. The Surgery Supervisor provides optimal services for patients and physicians in conjunction with Charge Nurses and Specialist Coordinators and serves as a liaison for the perioperative leadership team.
Essential Functions- Works with Anesthesia, Surgeons, the Clinical team, perioperative leadership, and Specialist Coordinators to plan staffing and daily assignments, manage the daily procedure schedule, and postings for add-on cases.
- May be responsible for developing the staff schedule and acting as a timekeeper for the department.
- Collaborates with departments to resolve patient care issues and coordinates supplies, instruments, equipment with Materials Management, SPD, Engineering, Biomed, and Environmental Services; represents the organization as daily liaison to the Medical Staff.
- Demonstrates knowledge of cost containment through judicious use of resources.
- May be responsible for interviewing, hiring, orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, and disciplining staff; providing performance feedback and appraisals.
- Assists with identifying and implementing quality and process improvement initiatives; leads clinical initiatives, ensures education and training, and participates in unit or facility councils and committees.

Education- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)
- BSN (preferred)
- BLS – American Heart Association (required)
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice (required)
- ACLS (preferred)
- PALS (preferred)
- CNOR (preferred)
- SGNA (preferred)
- 2 years perioperative nursing experience (required)
- One year in a charge nurse, specialty coordinator or leadership role (preferred; required for RSFH)
- Hard/Tech/Clinical:
Monitor patient conditions, inform medical professionals, analytical skills, knowledge of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, asepsis, sterile techniques, operating room techniques, Microsoft Office, scheduling, knowledge of AORN and SGNA standards - Soft/Interpersonal:
Attention to detail, communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, active listening, leadership, training and development, professionalism, ability to work under pressure
