Development Coordinator
Canterbury Counseling Center is seeking a dynamic and experienced Part-Time Fundraiser to cultivate and expand our development efforts. This role will focus primarily on fundraising and securing support from organizational and foundation partners, with additional responsibility for individual donor cultivation and events planning. The ideal candidate will be passionate about mental health services, community well-being, and mission-driven work. This position will facilitate and collaborate with a small development team—comprised of staff and/or contract partners as needed—to advance fundraising goals, while not carrying administrative or personnel management responsibilities.
PrimaryOrganizational Responsibilities
- Individual & Corporate Donor Relations (40%)
- Identify and cultivate donor prospects
- Develop strategies for donor acquisition, retention, and upgrade
- Coordinate donor communications (social media, email, etc) and acknowledgment processes
- Support annual giving campaigns and donor stewardship activities
- Organizational & Foundation Development (35%)
- Research and identify prospective organizational partners and foundation funding opportunities
- Develop and write compelling grant proposals and sponsorship packages
- Manage organizational and foundation relationships, ensuring timely reporting and stewardship
- Track foundation deadlines and maintain a grants calendar
- Collaborate with leadership to align funding requests with organizational priorities and programs
- Event Fundraising (25%)
- Plan, coordinate, and execute annual fundraising events, including our signature Illumination Luncheon and other donor cultivation events
- Manage event logistics, sponsorship packages, and volunteer coordination
- Develop event budgets and track revenue goals
- Cultivate relationships with event sponsors and attendees to maximize engagement and giving
- Oversee post-event stewardship and reporting
- Demonstrated experience in event fundraising, including planning, execution, and sponsor cultivation
- Proven track record securing gifts from organizations, corporations, foundations, and individual donors
- Strong grant writing skills with successful funding outcomes
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with strong project management capabilities
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and donor database systems
- Alignment with Canterbury Counseling Center s faith-informed mission and values
- 3+ years of fundraising experience in the nonprofit sector
- Experience in healthcare, mental health, or faith-based organizations
- Knowledge of the Greenville community and philanthropic landscape
- Experience with donor management software (e.g., Donor Perfect, Bloomerang, Salesforce)
This position is a direct report to the Executive Director. While the position is not supervisory in nature, it will require the facilitation of group tasks.
