Furnace Operator – 3rd Shift
Department:
Vacuum Furnace / Greenville, SC (Onsite)
Shift: 3rd Shift | 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Reports To:
Production Supervisor
- Set up, program, and operate vacuum furnaces in accordance with established work instructions
- Read and interpret furnace programs, charts, and process documentation
- Load and unload parts, fixtures, and baskets; handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs
- Monitor furnace cycles to ensure compliance with quality and process specifications
- Perform routine inspections, basic troubleshooting, and minor mechanical adjustments
- Accurately document production data, furnace parameters, and quality checks
- Operate supporting equipment, such as forklifts, cranes, and powered tools, as required
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with safety and 5S standards
- Use required personal protective equipment at all times
- Direct vacuum furnace operator experience is required
- Must include furnace setup, operation, and the ability to read furnace programs and charts
- Candidates without this experience will not be considered
- Strong mechanical aptitude and process awareness
- Ability to use basic computer systems for documentation and monitoring
- Understanding of safety, quality, and manufacturing best practices
- Experience operating IPSEN furnaces
- Exposure to HIP or advanced heat-treat processes
- Stand and walk for most of a 7.5-hour shift
- Frequently climb onto and off industrial equipment
- Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs; repeatedly lift up to 25 lbs
- Climb ladders up to 6 feet
- Push and pull tools, carts, and materials
- Maneuver carts weighing up to 150 lbs over short distances
- Perform cleaning duties using brooms, shovels, and similar tools
- Bend, reach, and inspect parts and containers at floor level
- Work in elevated temperatures up to approximately 120°F for short periods
- Perform routine part inspections involving components weighing up to 50 lbs
- Hours:
40 hours per week with up to 10 hours of overtime as needed - Pay:
Starting at $21-$29, negotiable based on experience - Pay Structure:
Hourly with shift differential for off-shift work
- Approx. 30 employees at the site
