Concrete Plant Maintenance Manager - Traveling position with per diem
Location: Equipment based in Greenville, SC with projects across the US
Position OverviewThe Traveling Concrete Plant Maintenance Manager is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing ready-mix concrete plants across multiple locations. This role supports plant uptime, safety, and production efficiency by providing hands-on mechanical, electrical, and preventative maintenance expertise. The position is based in Greenville, SC and requires regular travel to company plants throughout the US.
This is a critical field role for a self-motivated maintenance professional who enjoys problem-solving, working independently, and supporting multiple operations.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance on ready-mix concrete plants.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Maintain and repair conveyors, batch plants, mixers, silos, belts, motors, gearboxes, and crushers (as applicable).
- Respond to plant breakdowns and production issues to minimize downtime.
- Travel between multiple ready-mix plants to provide maintenance coverage and technical support.
- Assist plant operators and managers with troubleshooting and operational improvements.
- Support plant start-ups, shutdowns, and seasonal maintenance programs.
- Perform all work in compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Identify safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all plant locations.
- Complete preventative maintenance inspections and document findings.
- Track maintenance activities, parts usage, and equipment conditions.
- Recommend equipment upgrades or replacements to improve reliability and efficiency.
- 3+ years of maintenance experience in ready-mix concrete or heavy industrial plants
. - Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of electrical systems, motors, controls, hydraulics, and welding.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment failures and work independently in the field.
- Experience with batch plants and conveyor systems strongly preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly between plant locations.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor, industrial environments.
