Overview
Data Architect - Power & Utilities - Senior Manager – Consulting – Location OPEN. EY is seeking a motivated professional with solid experience in the utilities sector to serve as a Senior Manager in Data Architecture, data modernization, AI, Gen AI, and related capabilities, preferably with a power systems / electrical engineering background and experience delivering business use cases in Transmission / Distribution / Generation / Customer.
This role is dedicated to the Power & Utilities sector, focusing on crafting, deploying, and maintaining large-scale AI data-ready architectures. You will work with external clients, lead transformative technology projects, and contribute to the growth of EY’s data and AI capabilities in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the delivery and management of one or more processes, solutions, and projects with emphasis on quality and risk management.
- Drive continuous process improvement and identify innovative data solutions through research, analysis, and best practices.
- Supervise and mentor professional staff, guiding others in complex technical initiatives and client engagements.
- Design, architect, and present findings and solutions in data architecture and data engineering, leading junior team members and engaging a wide range of clients.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on digital transformation initiatives, analytic technology landscapes, and client motivations; engage with senior leaders to understand goals and information needs.
- Lead workshops and design sessions with stakeholders to capture requirements, use cases, personas, and data architecture strategies.
- Lead the design and implementation of modern data architectures supporting transactional, operational, analytical, and AI solutions.
- Direct and mentor global data architecture and engineering teams, promoting innovation and continuous improvement.
- Establish data governance policies, including data security, quality, and lifecycle management; stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM (required).
- 12+ years of professional consulting experience in industry or technology consulting.
- 12+ years of hands-on experience in architecting, designing, delivering, or optimizing data lake solutions.
- 5+ years’ experience with native cloud products and services (e.g., Azure, GCP).
- 8+ years of experience mentoring and leading teams of data architects and data engineers.
- In-depth knowledge of data architecture principles including data modelling, data warehousing, data lakes, and data integration.
- Experience leading large data engineering teams and building platforms with complex architectures and diverse data flows.
- Hands-on experience designing end-to-end data pipelines and ensuring efficient data delivery.
- Proficiency in data modelling and architectural patterns (Data Fabrics, Data Mesh, Lake Houses, Delta Lakes).
- Experience with data security, encryption, access control, and security best practices.
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes); familiarity with Git and Data Ops practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Experience with data governance, metadata management, and enterprise data management.
- Master’s degree in Electrical Power Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or related fields.
- Experience with cloud data platforms like Databricks.
- Experience working in big‑4 or major utility environments; focus on mentorship and professional development.
