Job SummaryThe Certified Medical Assistant is a key member of the team that works closely with the primary care physician to deliver high-quality patient care in the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines. Responsibilities include reviewing and updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms for upcoming examinations.
Essential Functions- Provides excellent customer service by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner
- Prepares and reviews patient charts for upcoming visits by verifying diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are correct and up to date
- Measures vital signs such as pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height
- Performs departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stocking supplies, tracking referrals, and answering phones as needed
- Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly
- Other duties as assigned
- High School Degree or GED
Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following (required):
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA);
American Association of Medical Assisting - Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent recognized by other certification bodies listed
BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for certain locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at others)
Experience- One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required)
- Two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office (preferred, not required)
- Problem solving, basic computer skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
