Overview
State Income Tax--Manager role located Open Location. EY is seeking a State Income Tax Manager to apply knowledge across tax areas and processes, devise strategic outcomes for complex issues, and support career growth within a globally connected team.
What You Will Do- Provide a variety of tax consulting, planning, and compliance services to diverse clients across sectors.
- Oversee state-level tax projects, including compliance and related research.
- Lead and direct a team in managing state tax compliance and advisory services for clients.
- Participate in tax planning, research, and special projects.
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual state income tax provisions.
- Model various state income tax benefits and consequences using Excel, Power BI, or Alteryx.
- Write tax technical memoranda to articulate issues, conclusions, and analyses on state tax matters.
- Develop and mentor staff to foster a collaborative team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field with approximately six years of related experience.
- High proficiency in state income tax code, regulations, and procedures.
- Proven track record in a professional services or tax organization.
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
- Ability to analyze client data and provide guidance to engagement teams.
- Strong prioritization skills for multiple complex projects; influential with a readiness to challenge processes.
- Willingness to travel as needed and to work in a balanced hybrid environment.
- CPA qualification (achieved or partially achieved), or certifications such as ITP, or eligibility for state bar membership.
- Comprehensive compensation and benefits package with base salary ranges and total rewards; salary varies by location and factors such as education and experience.
- Hybrid work model with client-facing roles typically in person 40-60% of the time.
