OverviewAs a Sales and Use Tax Senior assigned to EY’s Sales and Use Tax Lookback Review Center of Excellence (COE), you will lead multi‑state sales and use tax recovery projects for large, sophisticated organizations. You’ll build and apply your knowledge on a wide range of recovery projects for clients across multiple industries, working alongside engaging colleagues and mentors in a collaborative culture.
Key Responsibilities- Provide up‑to‑the‑minute tax advice on sales and use tax matters to clients.
- Conduct research on clients’ business operations and build lasting relationships.
- Identify applicable sales and use tax exemptions, exclusions, and potential over‑payment opportunities.
- Monitor current tax law changes and maintain credibility as a trusted advisor.
- Develop clear, intelligent plans and approaches for sales and use tax recoveries.
- Prepare and defend sales and use tax refund claims.
- Collaborate in a highly collaborative culture, sharing and listening to information with colleagues.
- Supervise a motivated team of professionals, ensuring they develop the skills, knowledge, and opportunities to reach their full potential.
- Strong research and client‑relationship skills.
- Knowledge of sales and use tax exemptions, exclusions, and recovery processes.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex projects.
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
- Willingness to travel as needed and work in a balanced hybrid environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
- Professional knowledge in a broad range of sales and use tax processes, concepts, and tools.
- A proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization.
- Strong influencing skills and confidence to question existing processes.
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
- Ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects.
- Willingness to travel as needed and work in a balanced hybrid environment.
- Certificate or partial completion of CPA, member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, CMI designation, or ability to sit for a state bar.
- Competitive compensation with a base salary range of $81,700 to $135,000 (U.S.).
