Summary/Objective:
As a VDC Plumbing Detailer, you'll work closely with project teams and trade partners to develop detailed plumbing models, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to project specifications and codes. Your expertise in VDC tools and plumbing systems will drive the optimization of preconstruction and construction processes, reducing project risks and enhancing overall project performance.
Essential Functions:
The VDC Systems Detailer will be responsible for working closely with trade partners to develop detailed, constructable 3D models of plumbing systems using VDC software such as Revit and Navisworks. In this role, you will build strong working relationships with trade partners and help coordination teams resolve conflicts and challenges. You will be responsible for delivering highly coordinated, constructable shop drawings.
Primary responsibilities include:
Model Coordination
- Develop detailed, constructible 3D models of plumbing systems using VDC software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure plumbing designs are integrated seamlessly with other trades and comply with all project requirements.
- Perform clash detection and resolution activities to identify and mitigate potential issues before construction begins.
- Participate in coordination meetings with project stakeholders to provide insights and updates on plumbing model development.
- Leverage VDC technologies to simulate construction sequences, optimize designs, and enhance project planning and execution.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, tools, and practices in VDC and plumbing design.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of VDC standards and workflows within the plumbing discipline.
- Work on up to 3 detailing projects at any time.
- Develop models to help illustrate complex questions and solutions.
- Develop 3D model components for team.
- Ability to provide general support to project and coordination teams on tools and processes.
- Generate 2D layout plans for underground field installation and QC with pointed stub-ups and tie in locations that include column lines, wall lines, or other critical components for field layout & QC.
- Generated pointed 3D models for field layout & GQ.
- Update points/layout information for trades as needed throughout construction.
- Acquire part 107 drone license and learn the basics of commercial UAV operation on a construction Conducting mapping missions and project documentation with oversight.
- Develop a basic understanding and ability to operate drones, total stations, GPS, laser scanners and 360 cameras.
- Be proficient in using reality capture data with coordination models to verify existing conditions and/or conduct conflict resolution.
- Able to perform all essential Entry Level / Project Engineer responsibilities.
- Research, understand, and communicate new technologies and workflows.
- Able to train and mentor Interns, and Co-ops.

In the office, their work involves extended periods of computer use and detailed data management, while on-site duties require physical mobility, adherence to safety protocols, and adaptability to varying outdoor conditions.

- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and potentially loud noises.
- Necessary use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots.
- Handling and operating equipment for field layout, such as robotic total stations or laser scanners.
- Ability to navigate and work safely within an active construction environment.
- Good hand-eye coordination for precise measurements and field layout activities.
