Paint Engineering Manager

Mission

As the Paint Engineering Manager, you will lead the development, optimization, and deployment of cutting‑edge paint technologies and processes across multiple locations. You will ensure the design and implementation of paint equipment and applications that meet the highest standards of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) while delivering superior performance, efficiency, and product quality.

This role combines technical leadership, project management, innovation
, and team development to elevate paint engineering excellence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Paint Process & Equipment Excellence
    • Ensure all paint equipment, processes, and settings comply with HSE requirements and minimize environmental and manpower impact.
    • Drive continuous improvement and standardization across paint processes and ensure “Design for Paint” principles are applied consistently.
    • Act as a technical expert supporting Operations and Manufacturing Engineering Centers across all sites.
  • Team Leadership & Talent Development
    • Lead and develop the Paint Engineering team: recruit, train, coach, and mentor paint engineers.
    • Ensure team competencies align with project and organizational requirements.
    • Manage workload allocation, anticipate resource needs, and coordinate subcontractors when required.
    • Build a high‑performance culture focused on expertise, innovation, and best‑in‑class delivery.
  • Project & Budget Management
    • Oversee activity budgets and ensure convergence to financial targets using OPTIMAP and OPTIPRO frameworks.
    • Guarantee cost control and labor hour optimization during development and AVP phases.
    • Lead scope changes, manage project perimeter updates, and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
    • Monitor and report progress on cost, timing, quality, and technical performance objectives.
  • Paint Technology & Industrialization
    • Lead technology design, process development, and industrialization activities across Operations locations.
    • Ensure robust application of OPLs, lessons learned, and POMS standards.
    • Contribute to global performance targets (Tf1 & Tf2) by establishing and sharing paint engineering "golden rules."
    • Capitalize best practices at the end of each project and ensure cross‑division deployment.
  • OPTIMAP Process Management
    • Ensure full adherence to OPTIMAP guidelines and key métier milestones.
    • Propose and deploy improved development tools to enhance quality and efficiency of deliverables.
    • Coordinate cascading and consistent application of the complete OPTIMAP PPE process across new and existing tools at the division level.
  • OPTIPRO – Paint Equipment Process
    • Ensure the correct application of OPTIPRO guidelines and associated milestones.
    • Drive the development and standardization of paint equipment across the division.
    • Support local teams through knowledge transfer, training, and on‑site guidance.
    • Ensure successful deployment of new paint equipment and tools, including updates to existing assets.
  • Cross‑Functional & Division‑Level Leadership
    • Represent the Paint Department in Level 3 milestones and key cross‑functional reviews.
    • Participate actively in critical Launch Readiness events.
    • Animate the Paint Technology and Paint Know‑How network for the division when required.
    • Provide clear, structured reporting to management on all paint‑related activities.
