PositionSenior Mechanical Engineer
We are seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Engineer IV to provide senior-level technical leadership within our Mechanical Engineering department. This role is responsible for leading mechanical and plumbing system design for complex architectural building projects, mentoring engineering staff, managing project budgets and schedules, and supporting client development efforts. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to guide projects from concept through construction.
Key Responsibilities- Lead mechanical and plumbing system design for architectural building projects, including HVAC, controls, building automation, and plumbing systems.
- Serve as technical lead on large and complex projects from conception through completion.
- Review and approve drawings, calculations, specifications, and reports prepared by project teams.
- Provide mentoring, training, and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
- Direct and support AutoCAD and Revit production efforts, including constructability and quality reviews.
- Prepare and review technical specifications and engineering narratives.
- Perform and oversee engineering calculations, analysis, and equipment selection.
- Conduct and oversee construction observations, field investigations, and review of field reports.
- Communicate effectively with clients, architects, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Generate project fees, support project planning, and manage workloads, schedules, and budgets.
- Participate in business development efforts, including client engagement and pursuit support.
- Deliver technical presentations and represent the firm in client meetings.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, UFC, DoD, and VA criteria.
- Sign and seal engineering documents as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET/EAC-accredited program (or approved equivalent).
- 13+ years of experience with a four-year ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in mechanical engineering, or
- 14+ years of experience with an ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or
- 16+ years of experience with a non-U.S. engineering degree (minimum 2 years in the U.S.) and fluency in English.
- Passed FE and PE exams administered by NCEES.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States with an active NCEES record.
- Extensive experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office Suite, and mechanical engineering software (e.g., Trane Trace 3D, Trane 700).
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and building mechanical systems.
- Proven experience leading project teams and managing complex project scopes and budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor staff and lead multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including client-facing presentations.
- Ability to travel and attend client or company meetings as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely perform site visits and field observations.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Pre-employment drug test, background check, and valid driver’s license required.
