Compensation: $95,000 – $105,000 + Bonus

Relocation:

About the Company

A well-established Tier 1 automotive manufacturer specializing in gasoline fuel injection systems is expanding its engineering team. This company designs and produces precision fuel injection components for global OEM and aftermarket customers, combining advanced manufacturing technology with a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Position Summary

The Design Engineer will lead the design, development, and validation of Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) fuel injector products. This role is a key technical contributor responsible for owning design validation (DV), PPAP readiness, and correlation of spray and flow test methods. The engineer will work closely with manufacturing, product testing, and application engineering teams to ensure robust product design and successful program launches.

Reports directly to the Manager of Product Development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead GDI injector design projects from concept through PPAP and production release.
  • Own Design Validation (DV) activities and readiness for launch.
  • Develop, refine, and correlate spray and flow test methods (Baton, Loccioni, OEM correlation).
  • Create and release detailed engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure design for manufacturability and cost-effective production.
  • Support application engineering for OEM and aftermarket programs without diverting production resources.
  • Drive problem resolution through root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Maintain design documentation, test data, and engineering change records in compliance with company standards.
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in fuel injector design, including Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) systems (mandatory).
  • Hands-on experience with automotive design standards, DV/PPAP processes, and manufacturing collaboration.
  • Proficiency with CAD (CATIA, NX, or Solid Works) and GD&T.
  • Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, spray patterns, and injector flow performance.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional teamwork skills.
Preferred Background
  • Ideal candidates come from:
    Cummins Turbo Technologies, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Garrett Advancing Motion, Borg Warner Turbo Systems, Holley Performance Products, or other engine/fuel system component manufacturers.
