ESTIMATOR

Engineered Systems is a leading overhead bridge crane manufacturer in the Southeast, dedicated to delivering innovative and high-quality solutions. Our team specializes in designing and fabricating high-quality cranes that power industrial operations across various sectors. We take pride in our ability to engineer solutions that enhance efficiency and reliability in material handling.

Our foundation is built on integrity, service, and craftsmanship. We believe in doing business the right way—with respect for our clients, our coworkers, and the work we’re entrusted to do. If you’re someone who values precision, teamwork, and purpose-driven work, you’ll feel right at home here.

Position Overview

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Estimator to join our engineering team. This role is key to the success of our projects—responsible for accurate budgeting, initial structural design concepts, and close collaboration with our sales team. You’ll help shape the scope and feasibility of custom crane systems, ensuring our solutions are both cost-effective and structurally sound.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed project cost estimates based on customer specifications, site conditions, and engineering requirements
  • Create initial structural design concepts and layouts for overhead crane systems
  • Collaborate with the sales team to review proposals, clarify technical details, and support client presentations
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and RFQs to determine labor, material, and equipment costs
  • Coordinate with engineering, production, and purchasing teams to validate pricing and timelines
  • Maintain organized records of estimates, revisions, and project assumptions
  • Provide value-engineering suggestions to optimize design and cost without compromising quality
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings and handoffs to ensure smooth execution
Qualifications
  • Experience in estimating, structural design, or project engineering—preferably in industrial or construction settings
  • Strong understanding of steel structures, mechanical systems, and fabrication processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across departments
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines with minimal supervision
Ideal Candidate
  • Value integrity, accuracy, and clear communication
  • Enjoy working closely with both technical and sales teams to bring projects to life
  • Take initiative and pride in delivering reliable, well-reasoned estimates
  • Appreciate a workplace that respects faith, family, and craftsmanship
  • Are known for being dependable, collaborative, and easy to work with
