STEAM Lab Teacher
Legacy Early College (“Legacy”) is a K4-12 public charter school that originated in 2009 with an unwavering focus on “To and Through College” at every grade level. Legacy’s model combines academics, nutrition, physical fitness, and mental health. In addition to our college‑driven academic standards, meals are made on site, scholars participate in PE every day, and Social‑Emotional Literacy is integrated into the culture and curriculum.
We currently occupy the site of the historic Parker High School and the former Greenville County Fine Arts Center.
Legacy Early College (“Legacy”) is looking for a talented and committed STEAM Lab teacher for grades K5–4th. The duties and responsibilities of the STEAM teacher involve instruction directly related to STEAM components – science, technology, engineering, art, and math. This position is responsible for collaborating with other Legacy teachers in promoting interdisciplinary STEAM activities into the core curriculum. STEAM instruction is available to K5 – 4th grade scholars as a special area known as the “STEAM Lab”.
Roles and Responsibilities- Demonstrates the ability to model, deliver, and craft rich student‑centered learning experiences around Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math
- Responsible for teaching and planning for elementary school STEAM courses as well as integrating STEAM concepts at the K5 – 4 level
- Conducts in‑service education for teachers in the effective integration of STEAM concepts into a project‑based learning framework
- Plans hands‑on classroom experiences with a class studying a particular topic at the request of the teacher
- Explores grant and partnership opportunities for STEAM supplies, programs, and competitions
- Focuses on integration of critical thinking, creativity, innovation, and high‑complexity problem‑solving throughout the curriculum
- Maintain and schedule use of STEAM lab
- Oversee the management of the school gardens
- Works with school staff to supervise the usage and facilities of the butterfly garden
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned
- 2 years of successful lead teaching experience in an under‑resourced community, preferred
- Experience working with English Language Learners, preferred
- Dedication to helping children grow and learn

- Operates on the 195‑day schedule based on the Legacy Early College centralized calendar
