Student Pastor Job Description

Position Overview

Take Heart Church is searching for a committed, high-energy, and relational Student Pastor to lead our ministry to students in grades 6–12. We are looking for someone who loves students, thrives in a fun and fast-paced ministry environment, and passionate about helping the next generation know Jesus, grow in their faith, and live out their God-given purpose.

The Student Pastor will champion evangelism, discipleship, culture building, and community engagement among middle and high school students. This role requires a leader who is creative, dependable, and fully invested in seeing youth ministry flourish at Take Heart Church.

Key Responsibilities Youth Ministry Leadership

The Student Pastor will set the pace for a vibrant, healthy, and engaging youth ministry.

  • Cast Vision for a fun, life-giving, and spiritually rich student ministry aligned with the mission of Take Heart Church.
  • Program Development
    :
    Create and lead weekly youth gatherings, small groups, events, retreats, and outreach opportunities.
  • Build an Atmosphere Students Love
    :
    Foster an environment that is welcoming, energetic, and Christ-centered.
  • Pastoral Care
    :
    Engage with students through mentorship, discipleship, crisis care, school involvement, and presence at key moments in their lives.
  • Volunteer Leadership
    :
    Recruit, train, schedule, and encourage a team of leaders who share a heart for youth ministry.
  • Communication
    :
    Keep parents, volunteers, staff, and the church informed using clear communication through email, text, social media, and Sunday announcements.
  • Partnership with Parents
    :
    Support and equip parents to champion the spiritual development of their teenagers.
  • Safety & Systems
    :
    Maintain clear processes, records, and safety standards for all student ministry activities.
Teaching & Worship

The Student Pastor will play a key role in communicating the gospel in a way that is biblical, relevant, and engaging
.

  • Preach and Teach Weekly in student services with creativity, clarity, and theological integrity.
  • Lead Worship Experiences for students, helping set an atmosphere of authentic worship and connection with God.
  • Collaborate with Pastors for Sunday morning services, special services, baptisms, and church-wide events.
  • Create Teaching Series that help students navigate faith, culture, relationships, identity, and spiritual disciplines.
Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with the Lead Pastor, Culture Pastor, and THC staff to ensure healthy communication, shared wins, and unified ministry goals.
  • Participate fully in staff culture, leadership meetings, and Sunday services.
  • Support church-wide initiatives, events, and outreach efforts.
Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is called to student ministry—not someone just looking for a stepping stone.

Required
  • Genuine love for Jesus and a strong commitment to spiritual growth.
  • A clear calling and passion for youth ministry.
  • Fun, energetic, approachable, and able to build trust with students and parents.
  • At least 3 years of youth ministry leadership experience (volunteer or paid).
  • Strong communicator with the ability to preach and teach effectively.
  • Skilled at planning and executing events, retreats, and weekly programming.
  • Ability to build teams, develop leaders, and cultivate a positive ministry culture.
  • Organized, dependable, and strong with systems and follow-through.
  • Proficient with social media and ministry communication tools.
  • Exhibits humility, integrity, and a teachable spirit.
Preferred but Not Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in ministry or a related field.
  • Experience leading worship (bonus, not required).
  • Familiarity with Next Gen ministry models and trends.
