Men's Residence Hall Mentor (GA) – Fall 2026‑Spring 2027
Position Summary:
If you have a passion for biblical counseling, an interest in life coaching, and a willingness to encourage college students, this nine‑month academic position may be the right fit for you. This position begins August 2026. This 30‑hour GA position is available only to those pursuing post‑graduate studies at Bob Jones University.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be available to students, including living in the residence hall.
- Meet with each new student to BJU both in the first and second semester.
- Meet with the assistant group leaders every week and work with your resident supervisor to hold regular leader meetings.
- Be alert to the needs of the students by noticing those who are struggling or who are dealing with significant issues.
- Meet each week with students on disciplinary probation as well as those needing weekly accountability or who request regular counsel.
- Keep the resident supervisor informed concerning the needs of students.
- Maintain regular office and front desk hours.
- Be present at weekly staff meetings both in and out of the residence hall.
- Regularly check on international students to see if they are adjusting well.
- Visit those that are in the hospital.
- Transport students to medical facilities.
- Assist in working toward solutions with the student leaders when controversies arise in the room.
- Meet all students during the first weeks of school.
- Attend discipleship seminars.
- Visit discipleship groups throughout the residence hall.
- Enforce BJU policies.
- Participate in room checks and resident good nights (curfew checks).
- Assist resident supervisor in following up with church and outreach accountability.
- Grow in biblical counseling proficiency through experience and study.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Above all, the counselor is to be an example of the believer in word, thought and action. He sets the tone for the residence hall in many ways and is integrally involved with the leadership framework of the residence hall. He assists the supervisor in whatever capacity necessary and keeps his walk close to the Lord so that he can minister in the power of the Holy Spirit to effect lasting change.
- This GA position is available only to those pursuing post‑graduate studies at Bob Jones University.
Required
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree;
Must be enrolled in post‑graduate studies at BJU.
An applicant must be a born‑again Christian who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Each applicant must agree with and affirm the Bob Jones University creed, mission, and core biblical doctrines regarding areas such as the Bible, the triune God, man and salvation, etc. Employees are expected to maintain a conservative lifestyle and support Bob Jones University’s positions on issues such as beverage alcohol and addictive substances, creation, marriage and human sexuality and the sanctity of life.
Employees are to be active members of a local Bible‑believing church that holds orthodox theology. Applicants must be committed to providing students an excellent, world‑class education from a biblical worldview.
