The Office of Research, Economic Development and Engagement ( REDE ) is responsible for research policy and integrity, research administration, and sponsored project contract negotiations across ECU , while leading economic and community engagement initiatives through partnerships with public sector agencies, industry, the military, and other organizations in pursuit of scholarly activities, economic development, and community engagement. REDE supports this mission through units focused on research administration, compliance, development, and innovation, overseeing research compliance and strategy, developing institutional research policy, and managing sponsored projects.
The Office of Continuing and Professional Education ( CPE ) builds bridges between East Carolina University and the public by providing access to non‑curricular professional development resources that engage, educate, and expand learning opportunities. The focus of the office is to provide high‑quality non-credit professional development to businesses, industry, the military, public sector organizations, and other entities for developing a suite of offerings that advance regional transformation and economic development opportunities in eastern North Carolina and other regions.
