Pediatric Hospitalist - Sumter, SC

Overview

Prisma Health Medical Group-Midlands Department of Pediatrics seeks a full-time Pediatric Hospitalist, BE/BC in General Pediatrics or Hospitalist Medicine to provide care at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

• Responsibilities include providing inpatient and newborn services for infants and children, rounding in a level II nursery, stabilization of critically ill newborns and children while awaiting transfer, and providing coverage for high-risk deliveries.
• The position is supported by pediatric subspecialists at the regional Children’s Hospital via local telemedicine and satellite clinics.
• You will join a team of pediatric hospitalists with 1:4 weekend call coverage.
• Candidates should have an interest in teaching, as the Tuomey hospitalist service provides education to medical students, as well as pediatric and family medicine residents.
• The position will include a teaching appointment with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine at the assistant professor level.
• Family medicine residents also participate in providing care on the hospitalist and newborn services. The newborn service has 1,300 deliveries annually, along with 150 admissions to the level II nursery and 300 to the pediatric inpatient unit.
