Dental Hygienist

Job Summary Under the general clinical supervision of the assigned dentist, the dental hygienist provides support to facilitate the assessment, dental hygiene diagnosis, and treatment of patients at New Horizon Family Dental Care. Additionally, the dental hygienist assists in the supervision of dental hygiene students rotating at the dental office.

Hiring Bonus Eligibility: $5,000

• Performs clinical examination of teeth and surrounding tissues and records findings and treatment plan in electronic dental record.
• Removes hard and soft deposits and stains from teeth.
• Applies fluoride varnish and pit and fissure sealant.
• Provides patient instruction and counseling regarding oral hygiene, proper nutrition, and dietary issues.
• Exposes radiographs and files in digital patient database.
• Consistently performs correct periodontal charting and gives appropriate treatment recommendations.
• Performs duties of expanded duty dental assistant when required.
• Ensures work area is kept safe, clean, and well organized with an adequate amount of supplies.
• Maintains a cooperative and professional working environment with co‑workers and patients.
• Abides by all OSHA, EPA, and HIPAA regulations.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Dental Hygienist course and radiography certificate.
• South Carolina licensure as a Dental Hygienist.
• One year of experience working as a Dental Hygienist.
• Computer literate and experienced with dental electronic record systems.
• Experience using digital radiography systems.
