Summary

The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing and coordinating comprehensive proposals on large and complex manufacturing projects. The role requires leading the preconstruction effort with both in‑house and outside resources and building effective relationships with team members, external customers, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

Responsibilities
  • Lead preconstruction efforts, including strategic planning and managing internal and external resources to develop comprehensive proposals (scope documents, conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, alternates, and schedules).
  • Ensure detailed scope‑of‑work documents are developed and reviewed; coordinate with design teams to capture project requirements accurately.
  • Perform constructability reviews, identify potential issues, and recommend efficient solutions.
  • Prepare detailed cost models, value‑engineering assessments, and risk‑management plans.
  • Develop and update project schedules to align with milestones and client expectations.
  • Identify and evaluate project risks; engage the team to implement risk‑mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in design review processes to ensure constructability and cost‑effectiveness.
  • Analyze alternates and value‑engineering ideas; communicate options to clients.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement in collaboration with the operations team.
Client / Subcontractor Relationships & Business Development
  • Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Lead and participate in client presentations, proposals, and interviews.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify business opportunities and new projects through market awareness and industry relationships.
  • Dedicate personal time to building relationships with current and potential clients and trade partners.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and vendor partners, including outreach to subcontractors and suppliers.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of preconstruction experience within the industrial construction industry.
  • Prior experience with warehouses, data centers, or mission‑critical facilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, business/finance, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Well‑versed in cost estimating, design/build and design/assist project delivery, scheduling, and project planning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; clear and consistent communication with customers and team members.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across multiple stakeholders.
  • Detail‑oriented problem‑solver who can multitask and manage multiple projects; willing to take calculated risks to achieve project goals.
  • Feelings of urgency and a high degree of personal responsibility, initiative, and integrity.
  • Ability to travel to multiple job sites as needed.
  • Highly motivated leader who can set a clear vision, inspire others, and foster a culture of excellence.
  • Consistently holds themselves and others accountable to high performance standards, quality outcomes, professionalism, and ethical conduct; encourages continuous improvement and supports team members.
  • Comfortable in fast‑paced, candid work environments.
