The Cost Accountant analyzes and controls manufacturing costs to ensure accurate financial reporting and support effective business decision-making. This role partners with operations, supply chain, and finance to monitor production costs, track variances, and recommend improvements that drive profitability and efficiency.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with team members and contribute to accounting and organizational goals. Maintain and analyze standard costs
, including updates to bills of materials (BOM) and routings. - Perform variance analysis (purchase price, labor efficiency, overhead absorption) and provide actionable insights to management.
- Support monthly close by preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and cost allocation reports.
- Collaborate with operations and supply chain to monitor and explain material usage, scrap, and production variances.
- Conduct inventory accounting
: reconcile physical counts to the general ledger, analyze inventory reserves, and ensure compliance with corporate policy. - Prepare and analyze cost reports to support management decision-making.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting of manufacturing costs.
- Partner with auditors during financial reviews related to cost accounting.
- Managing and reconciling large volumes of manufacturing and inventory data.
- Explaining cost variances to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Supporting decision-making in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.
- Balancing corporate compliance requirements with plant-level operational needs.

- Education / diplomas
:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred - Professional background
:
At least 3-5 years in a manufacturing or plant environment in accounting department - Languages
:
English - Tools & software
:
Advanced proficiency in Excel, experience with ERP/accounting systems, and familiarity with accounting systems experience. - Functional skills requirement
:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting. - Soft skills
:
Excellent communication, attention to detail, ability to work across functions, high integrity, and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
