Summary

Enhance the quality of life of residents through hands‑on care that meets physical, psycho‑social and spiritual needs in accordance with the mission and established practices of Brethren Retirement Community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide quality care to residents assigned to the caregiver.
  • Perform or assist residents with activities of daily living as required in the plan of care, working with them to reach and maintain optimal level of functioning.
  • Deliver and document restorative nursing programs while maintaining residents' rights and confidentiality of resident information.
  • Follow established procedures to meet standards of quality assurance, environmental safety, and infection control in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Use proper equipment and supplies in a cost‑effective manner.
  • Report resident needs, concerns, and condition changes to the Charge Nurse.
  • Organize and prioritize assigned duties to complete work on a timely basis while considering residents’ preferences.
  • Document services provided in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Utilize problem‑solving techniques within the scope of the job description and seek or refer to other staff for solutions outside authority.
  • Promote positive interdepartmental and public relations by cooperating with other staff as a multidisciplinary team, maintaining a clean, orderly, and pleasant environment, dealing tactfully and courteously with residents, family members, visitors, and the general public.
  • Engage in continuous professional growth and development through attendance at educational programs, in‑services, and scheduled meetings:
    • Develop interpersonal skills through training.
    • Participate in in‑service offerings.

Education and/or

Experience:

Minimum of an eighth‑grade education and sixteen years of age.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to sit, climb, or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
