East Carolina University (≈27,000 students) is a regional leader in recreation and sport education. The Department of Recreation Sciences and Sport Management offers undergraduate degrees in Recreational Therapy and Recreation, Park, and Sport Management, and graduate degrees in Recreation Sciences and Sport Management with concentrations in Recreation Management, Recreational Therapy Administration, and Sport Management. The department collaborates with the Center for Sport and Community Development, the Institute for Coastal Science and Policy, and the Brody School of Medicine.
Job DutiesTeach professional preparation classes for undergraduate students in Sport Management, and supervise student field experiences. Contribute to program advancement, curriculum development, and service to the university, community, and profession. Expected instruction, curriculum development, and service are contingent upon availability of funds.
Minimum Education / Experience- Master’s degree in Sport Management, Sport Administration, or a closely related field (e.g., Recreation Management, Leisure Studies, Sport Leadership).
- Experience related to intercollegiate athletics, municipal athletics, and/or professional or semi‑professional sport management.
- Demonstrated teaching potential in entry‑level sport classes (e.g., Introduction to Sport Management) or experience supervising interns in sport management settings.
- Experience teaching Sport Management and Organizational Behavior;
Risk Management;
Recreation, Sport, and Event Programming;
Leadership and Group Process; or Sport Law. - Ability to teach face‑to‑face, hybrid, synchronous, and asynchronous online.
