Registered Nurse (RN) – Central Staffing (Float Pool)
Position Summary
Responsible to provide care in accordance with the North Carolina Board of Nursing‑Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice and other standards established by professional groups, regulating bodies, and agents. Nursing care will be delivered in accordance with ECU Health and entity‑specific nursing policies, procedures, and professional standards of care/practice. The RN shall provide and coordinate nursing care, including collection and analysis of assessment data, identification of expected outcomes, development of plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family and other interdisciplinary team members, implementation of interventions, evaluation of progress, and documentation.
The RN also promotes effective functioning of the health‑care team, collaborates with team members to meet patient/family needs, and delegates tasks appropriately.
Responsibilities
- Assure healing without harm through use of safety habits, error prevention tools, periodic rounding, and engagement in daily safety huddles.
- Obtain and interpret initial and ongoing systematic patient/family assessment data, incorporating information from other appropriate sources.
- Use assessment data to formulate relevant nursing plan of care.
- Collaborate with patient/family/significant others and interdisciplinary team members to mutually formulate realistic and measurable outcomes based on clinical presentation and plan of care.
- Develop an individualized plan of care including learning needs to achieve optimal health and well‑being and transition across the continuum.
- Implement and act on interventions identified in the plan of care with consideration for patients’ needs across the life span.
- Systematically evaluate and document patient progress based on expected outcomes on an ongoing basis as identified in the patient's plan of care.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma in Nursing, Associate’s in Nursing or higher.
- One year of experience required.
- Current NC RN license or licensure to practice in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact state Health Care Provider required.
- Basic Life Support required.

Shift: Full‑time nights.
