ECU Health Medical Center, located in Greenville, North Carolina is seeking a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to provide locums coverage for their Neuroscience ICU service. Candidates will need to come in the day before for orientation.
Applicants should have at least 1 year of experience.
ECU Health's Neuroscience program uses a multidisciplinary approach to provide a range of services to include diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with neurological disorders. The hospital has excellent staff in nursing, radiology, general neurosurgery, endovascular neurosurgery and intervention, neuro‑spine surgery, and neurology. The Neuroscience team takes great pride in their patient- and family-centered approach to care, which promotes optimization of patient outcomes.
Dates coverage is needed: 7am-7pm
Tuesday 2/24 through Monday 3/2/2026
Monday 4/13 through Sunday 4/19/2026
Monday 4/27 through Sunday 5/3/2026
Inpatient responsibilities only.
Required Acute Care Certified.
Provider must have the ability to perform ICU level care.
Locums’ provider will respond to codes.
No ER backup.
No call.
Required certifications: ACLS, BLS from AHA.
Integrated EMR: EPIC.
Avg total inpatient census: 20.
Avg number of patients/day per provider: 4.
Avg number of admissions/day: 2.
Number of beds: 20.

- Arterial lines
- Central lines
- Lumbar punctures
- Vent management
- Established clinical neuroscience team of 10 neurosurgeons, including dual‑trained cerebrovascular specialists and 20+ neurologists including an interventional neurologist, 4 vascular neurologists, 4 Neurointensivists, and 13 subspecialty neurologists.
- Large dedicated NSICU team inclusive of 4 physicians and 11 advanced practice providers who provide 24/7 coverage.
- ECU Health Medical Center is a 974‑bed level 1 trauma center and Joint Commission‑certified Comprehensive Stroke Center.
