Behavioral Health Outreach Clinician; PRN

Overview

Position Summary The Behavioral Health Outreach Clinician functions as a healthcare provider who conducts behavioral health and substance abuse screenings and assessments in emergency departments and inpatient units. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, the clinician provides diagnostic evaluations, crisis intervention, treatment planning, and disposition recommendations. Responsibilities include coordination with psychiatry teams, case management, documentation, and support of institutional missions.

• Conduct face-to-face or virtual consultations with patients experiencing behavioral health or substance abuse crises.
• Perform clinical assessments across all age groups using appropriate diagnostic and placement criteria.
• Utilize screening tools to determine psychiatric acuity and recommend appropriate levels of care.
• Coordinate patient care with emergency department physicians, psychiatry teams, and community providers.
• Assist with referrals to outpatient and inpatient behavioral health treatment, including detoxification placement.
• Support involuntary commitment processes in collaboration with county mental health and law enforcement agencies.
• Provide psychoeducation to patients and families regarding behavioral health, crisis intervention, and available services.

• Master s degree in a mental health field such as Social Work, Rehabilitation Studies, or related discipline is required.
• Fully licensed clinician in North Carolina as a LCSW, LCMHC, or LMFT.
• Minimum of 1 to 2 years of clinical assessment experience in behavioral health settings.

On Call; per diem; various shifts. M-F 7p-7a; F, Sa, Su and Holidays 24 hours. Sign up as available.
