Job Summary
Under indirect supervision performs all duties associated with acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation, and archiving of images. Responsible for the care of the patient while in the diagnostic department.
Full-Time, Monday through Friday with varying hours of 7:30am - 6:00pm with weekend rotation
Major Job Functions- Practice Cost containment measures in all aspects.
- Performs diagnostic radiographic procedures.
- Assist Radiologists as needed
- Prepare patients for procedures (i.e. Undressing, questioning, and permitting).
- Act as liaison between referring physicians, radiologists, and patients.
- Use computer to start and end procedures for patients.
- Enter all important information in Mediinformatix.
- Answer telephone as indicated and accept orders from referring physician offices.
- Generate stat sheets and send or call results as ordered.
- Stock rooms with supplies and linens weekly or as needed.
- Clean rooms between patients according to OSHA requirements.
- Cleans and disinfects all wheelchairs in department.
- Rotate gathering of dirty linens and washes linens.
- Rotate disinfecting and sterilizing of procedural trays and maintenance of autoclaves.
- Check films and CDs out as needed. Call for outside films as needed for comparison.
- At the end of the day, run off schedules for the next day and close down rooms.
- Shield all patients if possible.
- Make sure all procedures are on PACS.
- Validates patient on PACS.
- Assist as needed during emergencies.
- Follows all OSHA Standards for Blood Bourne Pathogens.
- Orient and educate students and new technologists.
- Scan films and paperwork.
- Retrieve films from file room.
- Make CDs
- Education:
Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology. - Experience:
No post graduate experience required. - Certification/License/Registration:
Registered or Registry eligible through the ARRT. CPR certification required. - Position Titles and Number Supervised:

Skills:
Must be able to remain calm in stressful situations. Must display courtesy and empathy toward patients, co-workers, and physicians. Must be able to make sound judgments and execute the appropriate actions based on the needs of patients and knowledge of departmental policies and procedures. Must have good communication skills and be discrete with confidential information. - Physical Demands:
Must be able to move about freely. Must be able to assist in the lifting of physically compromised patients. Must possess sufficient visual and auditory acuity to perform task remotely located to the patient. - Working Conditions:
Works in a medical facility. Subject to electrical, chemical, and radiant energy hazards. Exposure to infectious disease and lifting hazards. Sits, stands, and walks intermittently throughout the day. Must stoop and bend in the course of job performance. Must lift patients and supplies. - Other (Operational Excellence):
Employee must be aware of and fully support all practice policies and procedures. Must have demonstrated ability to deliver services to physicians, patients and fellow employees with compassion and in a responsive, courteous and concerned manner.
