Job Summary
Under indirect supervision performs all duties associated with acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation, and archiving of ultrasound images and is responsible for the care of the patient while in the ultrasound department.

Hours:
8:00am-4:00pm
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, explaining procedures and ensuring comfort, safety, and privacy.
- Obtain and document patient clinical history and correlate with relevant procedures.
- Perform ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, obstetric, gynecological, vascular, pediatric, thyroid, soft tissue, and ultrasound-guided procedures.
- Operate and adjust ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality images, demonstrating thorough knowledge of anatomy and pathology.
- Assist patients on and off exam tables and prepare exam rooms, maintaining cleanliness and stocking supplies.
- Document exams accurately in PACS, including worksheets, validation, and reporting.
- Collaborate with radiologists and referring providers to discuss and interpret studies and relay STAT results when necessary.
- Participate in quality assurance activities, including maintaining ACR Ultrasound Accreditation standards.
- Follow HIPAA, OSHA, and Bloodborne Pathogen guidelines, and participate in required training sessions.
- Support the education and supervision of clinical students and perform other departmental duties as needed.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as requested.
- Education:
Complete an accredited program in diagnostic medical sonography. - Experience:
No post graduate experience required. - Certification/License/Registration:
Registered or Registry eligible through ARDMS. Sub‑specialty registration in US required (ARDMS) BLS/CPR certification required. Maintains Continuing Education Credits. - Position Titles and Number Supervised:

Skills:
Must be able to remain calm and composed in stressful situations while demonstrating courtesy, empathy, and professionalism toward patients, co‑workers, and physicians. They should exercise sound judgment and take appropriate actions based on patient needs and departmental policies. Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information are essential. The candidate must also demonstrate punctuality, dependability, and the ability to use clinical time efficiently. - Physical Demands:
The Ultrasound Technologist must be able to stand for long periods, bend, reach, and assist patients as needed. They should have the strength and dexterity to operate equipment and provide safe, effective patient care. - Other (Operational Excellence):
Employee must be aware of and fully support all practice policies and procedures. Must have demonstrated ability to deliver services to physicians, patients, and fellow employees with compassion and in a responsive, courteous, and concerned manner.
