Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key strategic partner to the President and executive team, responsible for steering the company’s financial direction and ensuring its long-term financial health. This role combines high-level financial oversight with hands-on operational leadership, covering financial planning, risk management, reporting, and capital strategy. The CFO will drive value creation through data-driven insights, efficient financial processes, and alignment of financial goals with the company’s broader vision.

The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and a pragmatic operator with a deep understanding of finance, compliance, and business growth dynamics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Financial Leadership
  • Develop and implement the company’s overall financial strategy to support business objectives and sustainable growth.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the President and leadership team on financial planning, forecasting, and business performance.
  • Evaluate and advise on the financial impact of long-range planning and new initiatives
  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
  • Lead the annual budgeting and long-term financial planning processes.
  • Build robust forecasting models and conduct scenario analysis to inform strategic decisions.
  • Monitor business performance metrics and financial KPIs, ensuring timely and insightful reporting to stakeholders.
  • Financial Reporting & Compliance
  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of internal and external financial reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP, IFRS, or other relevant standards.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Liaise with external auditors, regulators, and legal advisors as necessary.
  • Risk Management & Internal Controls
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks through appropriate policies, controls, and governance frameworks.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial systems.
  • Develop and enforce risk management practices, including insurance, tax compliance, and legal exposure.
  • Capital Management & Fundraising
  • Manage the company’s capital structure, including cash flow, debt, equity, and working capital.
  • Optimize financing strategies to support business needs while maintaining financial flexibility.
  • Lead fundraising efforts, including venture capital, private equity, debt financing, or IPO readiness, depending on the company’s stage and strategy.
  • Treasury & Cash Flow Management
  • Oversee short- and long-term cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning.
  • Optimize banking relationships and treasury operations to ensure sufficient capital availability.
  • Monitor foreign exchange, credit, and interest rate exposures where applicable.
  • Operational & Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Collaborate closely with department leaders (e.g., operations, sales, marketing, HR, product) to align financial planning with business strategies.
  • Implement financial systems and tools that drive automation, scalability, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead cost optimization and efficiency initiatives across the organization.
  • Team Leadership & Development
  • Build and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide mentoring, training, and career development opportunities for finance staff.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in a senior financial leadership role.
  • Deep understanding of corporate financial law and risk management practices.
  • Strong knowledge of financial and accounting principles.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Quick Books, Net Suite).
