East Carolina University (ECU) is located in Greenville, North Carolina, a vibrant college‑town with a population of about 90,000 residents. ECU is one of 17 campuses in the University of North Carolina system and serves the state with world‑class teaching, research, service, and scholarship.
The Department of Pharmacology is a 13‑person full‑time faculty group that also employs nine research technicians, three postdoctoral scientists, two full‑time administrators and 13 graduate students. The department offers undergraduate, graduate and professional courses in pharmacology, therapeutics and toxicology, and is equipped with state‑of‑the‑art facilities that support research in cardiovascular, neuro‑, cancer pharmacology, neurotoxicology and developmental toxicology.
Job DutiesWe are seeking a full‑time (12‑month) research or tenure‑track faculty member in Pharmacology or Toxicology. The candidate will be appointed as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (rank commensurate with qualifications) and will be expected to:
- Conduct state‑of‑the‑art, grant‑supported research and publish in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Teach pharmacology and/or toxicology courses to undergraduate, professional, and graduate students.
- Collaborate with colleagues within the Department, Brody School of Medicine, and other ECU units.
- Serve on university and departmental committees and support ECU’s mission of student learning and regional transformation.
Contingent upon the availability of funds.
Minimum Education /Experience- Ph.D., M.D., or D.V.M. (or equivalent) in pharmacology, toxicology, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Evidence of strong teaching and mentoring ability with students at the professional and graduate levels.
For appointments above Assistant Professor, candidates must have current extramural funding and a record of graduate training and medical education contributions.
Preferred Experience , Skills, Training / Education- Post‑doctoral training (minimum 3 years).
- Demonstrated originality and excellence in research.
- Potential to develop an externally funded research program.
- Ability to integrate skills in research, teaching, and service.
- Specialist in integrative or molecular pharmacology or toxicology is highly encouraged.
