Job Description

The Outer Banks Hospital, in partnership with ECU Health is seeking a Board-Certified Anesthesiologist to provide coverage in Nags Head, North Carolina. The Outer Banks Medical Group is an established multi-specialty group that has a passion for quality of care. New providers will need to come in the day before scheduled shift for orientation.

Highlights
  • Must have NC license and DEA
  • 24hr call coverage
  • Privileges at The Outer Banks Hospital, a 21-bed critical access facility (No ICU)
  • Elective and emergency surgery cases
  • Required certifications - BLS, ACLS, PALS
  • CRNA support
  • Comprehensive medical staff including General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Cardiology, Orthopedics, ENT, Primary Care and Oncology
Required Procedures
  • The management of procedures for rendering a patient insensible to pain and emotional stress during obstetrical, surgical, and certain medical procedures
  • The support of life functions under the stress of Anesthetics and surgical manipulations
  • The clinical management of the patient unconscious from whatever cause
  • The management of problems in pain relief
  • The management of problems in cardiac and respiratory resuscitation
  • The application of specific methods of respiratory therapy
  • The clinical management of various fluid, electrolyte, and metabolic disturbances
  • Bronchoscopy-diagnostic and therapeutic
  • Placement and management of Swan-Ganz catheter
  • Arterial cannulation
  • Placement and management of central venous catheters

Applicants must demonstrate that they have maintained competence by showing evidence that they have provided inpatient services to at least 60 patients in the past 24 months. These services must have been provided at an accredited inpatient facility. The applicant must provide evidence of compliance with this request and also allow The Outer Banks Hospital to access verification deemed necessary to provide evidence of compliance with this requirement.
