Summary
The incumbent practices in Mental Health services as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality - timeliness - and the advancement of the VA mission. The PMHNP provides advances clinical practice - consultation - and management. The PMHNP practices to the full extent of their education - training - and certification. The PMHNP has prescriptive authority - if required - as indicated by their position.
Duties- VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards The Advance Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) - Psychiatric Mental Health provides a full range of services in clinical practice - consultation and management
- Duties include - but are not limited to:
Using advanced clinical judgment to independently provide evidence-based treatment to Veterans with acute or chronic mental illness - including the use of psychotropic medications - psychotherapy and other modalities - Providing patient and family education on medical/mental health conditions - preventive measures and prescribed treatments
- Counseling and treating patients with substance use disorders Ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies Initiating referrals and consults to specialty services Pay:
