ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of park grounds, facilities, and Athletic Complex.

Maintain sidewalks, tracks, and parking from snow and ice in winter months.

Coordinate and install planting and layout of all park landscaping.

Maintain Park landscaping and turf management such as mowing, aerating, fertilizing, top dressing, edging and weed spraying on athletic fields.

Maintain, install and repair Park amenities including fences, benches, drinking fountains, and sidewalks.

Maintain and repair Park facilities including but not limited to athletic spaces, trails, facilities, and restrooms.

Identify and perform advanced plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC and repairs on facilities, equipment and tools.

Operate and/or drives a variety of light and heavy-duty equipment as directed.

Maintenance on equipment and facilities including daily, seasonal and annual safety checks and inspections.

Prepare pavilions and fields for rentals and events.

Preventative maintenance for natural barriers that present unsafe spaces for Park visitors, while applying consideration for natural features within the Park.

Provide support for other Parks & Recreation or Township events.

Participate in committee work for the department and/or the Township as deemed appropriate by the Director of Parks & Recreation and/or Township Manager.

Provide other services and perform other tasks as requested or assigned by the Assistant Director/Director of Parks & Recreation and/or Township Manager.

Requirements

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.

Requires at least four (4) years of progressive experience in park and field/turf maintenance.

Consideration may be given to any equivalent combination of education, management, and or/field experience.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

The individual must possess the following skills and abilities or be able to demonstrate that they can perform the essential function of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

Ability to operate equipment, vehicles, and trailers used to maintain fields and parks and the knowledge to troubleshoot maintenance issues.

Advanced understanding of skilled trades, but not limited to, plumbing, electrical, general construction, HVAC, etc.

Must obtain Pennsylvania Pesticides Applicator License.

Must obtain Certified Pool Operator and Splash Pad Certification.

Must obtain Certified Playground Safety Inspector Certification.

Moderate understanding of native, invasive and poisonous plants, trees, insects and wildlife.

Ability to maintain a good working relationship with the general public and Township officials.

Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.

Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License and the ability to travel.

Must obtain all Pennsylvania Act 153 Clearances and CPR and First Aid Certifications.

Strong management, supervisory, and interpersonal skills, effective written and verbal skills, excellent technology skills and proven leadership ability.

Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time, and devise solutions to immediate problems without much time for consideration.

Skills in operating a personal computer with a general understanding of word processing, spreadsheet preparation, database development, file maintenance, and the ability to learn.

The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally life and/or move up to 50 pounds.
