Description

The Commercial Driver is responsible for safely operating a collection truck and providing prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services for customers. The driver ensures the vehicle complies with safety standards and completes vehicle condition reports daily to address any defects in a timely manner.

• Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order; report any safety issues on standard reports.
• Safely operate heavy truck along designated routes and to disposal sites; read route sheets, follow maps, and service each customer as identified on the route sheet or as assigned by the dispatcher and/or supervisor.
• Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
• Interact Courteously with customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers in accordance with departmental procedures.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste and clean areas around any spills following safety standards and policies.
• Monitor the vehicle condition to stay operationally ready and minimize downtime; clean waste from the packer blade and truck body as appropriate on each disposal trip.
• Complete required route/productivity sheets, Vehicle Condition reports, and other reports as required.
• Maintain adherence to productivity standards to ensure timely and efficient service for all customers.
• Provide good customer service, act professionally and respectfully toward customers and co-workers, and demonstrate honesty and trustworthiness.
• Demonstrate good time management, follow through on responsibilities, and adhere to work schedules and safety policies.
• Promote the Company’s safety standards and avoid taking inappropriate risks; maintain pride in work and strive to achieve goals.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

• Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s license with air brakes endorsement.
• Two years of prior experience driving heavy commercial trucks.
• Excellent reading and writing skills.

• Light lifting (up to 50-100 pounds); shop environment.

• Warehouse/shop environment.
