Plumbing Mechanic
A Plumbing Mechanic is typically an experienced tradesperson with several years of hands-on plumbing experience
, capable of installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems on commercial job sites. Mechanics should have strong technical knowledge, an understanding of safety practices, and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
A Journeyman Plumber License is preferred
, but not required.

- Arrive early to organize tools and tasks
- Work a full scheduled day and maintain productivity

Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
Plumbing Mechanics must:
- Follow all OSHA and company safety policies
- Use all required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, etc.)
- Understand basic OSHA requirements for jobsite safety
- Report unsafe conditions immediately
- Participate in safety meetings and discussions
- Perform all aspects of commercial plumbing installation and repair
- Ensure all work meets acceptable trade standards
- Follow all applicable plumbing codes and regulations
- Read blueprints and follow instructions accurately
- Coordinate with other trades on site
- Produce neat, professional, high‑quality workmanship
- Identify and report issues or deviations from drawings
- Offer possible solutions to resolve challenges
- Know when to elevate a problem to a Lead Mechanic or Foreman
- Prepare tools and materials needed for daily tasks
- Communicate needs or delays to the Lead Mechanic or Project Manager
- Assist in planning work in proper sequence
- Ensure materials are stored safely and efficiently
- Communicate clearly and respectfully
- Follow instructions accurately and efficiently
- Ask questions when needed to ensure quality installation
- Support teamwork and maintain a positive jobsite atmosphere
- Represent Southern Air with professionalism, pride, and integrity
- Support the company’s mission and contribute to team success
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing
- Work indoors/outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Work around typical construction materials and equipment
- Travel to job sites, including extended drive times
