  • Target candidate may be required to operate and maintain a vacuum excavation truck and related equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Possess the ability to designate/locate a variety of underground utilities, create legible field sketches, simple mathematics, field measurements, document daily activities, and perform records research. Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience
  • This position is similar to a utility locator or utility designator and requires a minimum of 2–4 years of utility locating or designating using many types of pipe and cable locating devices.
  • Experience with Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) is preferred.
  • Understanding basic traffic control and the hazards associated with working in and around traffic and following safety precautions.
  • Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Surveying, CADD, and vacuum excavation truck experience a plus.
Skills
  • Ability to follow instructions, possession of the ability to be trained and mentored, and a positive can‑do attitude are necessities.
  • Must possess leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Have a basic knowledge of various underground utilities and be able to identify surface features associated with various utilities.
  • Ability to perform some equipment maintenance tasks is a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude is desired.
Degrees / Licenses
  • High School Diploma is required.
  • A valid current driver’s license and ability to obtain a Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). card for Commercial Motor Vehicle operation is required.
  • Current Commercial Driver’s License is a plus.
  • NULCA or other certification is a plus.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience.
  • Pre‑employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
Performance Expectations
  • Participate in cross‑training as requested to build a stronger team.
  • Communicate your workflow needs to your team and to your supervisor.
  • Accurately record and report daily forms per project requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with client, contractor, staff, and supervisor.
  • Proactively resolve problems at the lowest level.
  • Adhere to project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Review all work for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting.
  • Submit accurate time sheets, mileage and expense reports on time each week.
  • Review job‑site safety daily and take immediate action to document and resolve issues.
  • Understand OSHA Safety Standards and KCI corporate policies and follow them at all times.
  • Accurately record and report your work each day on the forms provided.
  • Inspect and correct your own work before turning it in.
  • Perform all task assignments using required industry standards.
