A Lead Mechanic typically has 8–10 years of trade experience and should hold a Journeyman Plumber License
. The ideal candidate is a confident leader with strong technical expertise, proven problem‑solving abilities, and the desire to guide and support a plumbing team.
Lead Mechanics enforce all OSHA, safety, code, and trade requirements while maintaining excellent workmanship and professionalism on every project.
Key Responsibilities- Demonstrate a confident, “take charge,” proactive mindset
- Maintain a positive attitude toward problem‑solving and change
- Lead and motivate plumbing crews
- Share knowledge and mentor team members
- Treat all individuals with professionalism and respect
- Set the standard for punctuality and reliability
- Arrive early to organize tasks and prepare the day
- Ensure crews work full scheduled shifts
- Plan work at least two weeks ahead
- Use manpower, tools, and equipment efficiently
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organized jobsite
- Know and enforce all OSHA and company safety policies
- Understand basic OSHA requirements
- Respond effectively to accidents and incidents
- Conduct weekly safety meetings
- Consult the Safety Coordinator when unsure about safety protocols
- Perform and oversee all aspects of the plumbing trade
- Ensure work meets or exceeds trade and code requirements
- Read and interpret blueprints accurately
- Work independently with little supervision
- Solve problems using sound judgment
- Coordinate tasks with other trades
- Ensure all work is neat, professional, and system‑compliant
- Identify issues quickly and verify known facts
- Select and implement the best option
- Recognize when a problem requires higher‑level assistance
- Determine necessary tools, equipment, and ensure availability
- Coordinate manpower needs with the Project Manager
- Schedule material deliveries and plan storage for productivity
- Maintain workflow efficiency and alignment with project schedules
- Delegate tasks clearly and follow up for quality assurance
- Communicate instructions effectively (verbal and written)
- Listen and respond to team needs

- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent climbing, kneeling, bending, reaching, and standing
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Work around standard construction materials and chemicals
- Travel to project sites, including extended drive times
