primary purpose of the organizational unit: facilities operations provides a wide range of services to all administrative departments, student programs, and all academic units. Services include corrective and preventive maintenance, operations, grounds maintenance, housekeeping, utility infrastructure maintenance, safety/compliance, project management, and renovations for a campus with 100 buildings totaling 6 million gross square feet on nearly 300 acres.

position summary

this position is responsible for providing preventive maintenance and repairs to grounds equipment, such as mowers, skid steers, backhoes, forklifts, two-cycle equipment, and utility carts, both gas and electric. It is also responsible for completing work orders to track the work performed.

responsibilities
  • 40% – perform repairs, as needed, to return equipment to operation
  • 40% – perform preventative maintenance on equipment per pm work order schedule
  • 10% – complete work orders to track work
  • 10% – order necessary parts
minimum qualifications

high school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies needed to perform the work. Optional guidelines: experience in the field of work related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

preferred qualifications
  • working knowledge of preventive maintenance and repair of small engine equipment, diesel-powered equipment, and electrical utility carts.
alternate option
