Store Manager – Kohl’s (Greensboro, NC)
As a Store Manager you provide oversight and leadership for the entire store team, delivering a superior customer experience and driving sales and profitability.
AboutThe Role
You will be the primary leader for customer experience and associate engagement, coaching, mentoring, and training staff to achieve excellent service, merchandising expertise, and operational excellence.
What You’ll Do- Guide profitable sales, meet store financial plans, and accomplish performance goals through strategic decisions and leadership of the store team.
- Achieve payroll plan by managing schedules, monitoring labor costs, and adjusting staffing based on sales trends.
- Recruit and make hiring, pay, and termination decisions for all levels of store personnel, including store management.
- Manage associate relations issues, including performance management, and ensure associates follow company policies.
- Manage the training process for new hires on Kohl’s culture, product knowledge, and selling practices, holding associates accountable to individual goals.
- Coach the store team to increase their knowledge, provide opportunities for continued development, and create succession plans.
- Ensure sound inventory management through accurate shipping and receiving, price changes, and ticketing procedures.
- Prevent loss by educating associates, monitoring daily activity, maintaining product protection standards, and partnering with Loss Prevention.
- Ensure store merchandising standards follow visual merchandising direction, adapting to store layout and customer needs.
- Maintain appropriate product levels on the sales floor through floor replenishment.
- Create a compelling store experience by modeling customer service, ensuring speed of POS, and exceeding customer expectations.
- Managing with integrity, honesty, and fostering teamwork in an engaged culture.
- Exercising good judgment and discernment in decisions.
- Modeling, enforcing, and guiding associates.
- Demonstrating, coaching, and developing a customer‑service mindset.
- Ensuring strong operational standards, shortage mitigation, and accurate pricing.
- Monitoring and adjusting resources to support customers and workloads.
- Assessing KPIs to drive store results.
- Managing talent: hiring, training, development, supervision.
- Accomplishing multiple tasks within time frames.
- Reinforcing company policies, procedures, and safety.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Experience supervising 20 or more associates, including performance management and employment decisions.
- Great verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong people‑management skills and ability to develop talent.
- Flexible availability, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in a managerial position.
- Experience supervising 50 or more associates, including performance management and employment decisions.
- College degree or equivalent combination of education and 3–4 years experience in retail or a similar industry.
