Position Overview
We are hiring immediately for full‑time and part‑time Cook positions at Greensboro College Dining, 815 West Market Street, Greensboro, NC 27401. Online applications only.
Work schedule:
Full‑time and part‑time shifts, evenings and weekends required. Days and hours may vary. Specific details will be provided in the interview.
Pay: $14.00–$16.50 per hour.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Prepare high‑quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules.
- Serve meals or prepare for delivery using correct portioning, ensuring correct temperature and attractive presentation; taste all prepared food items.
- Use established ticket collection procedures during service; responsible for records during service periods.
- Clean kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high cleanliness standards; store or discard excess food per safe handling procedures.
- Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat; ensure food and supplies stored per standards.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed.
- Assist in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required.
- Assist in ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as required.
- Report needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
- Attend in‑service and safety meetings.
- Maintain good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers.
- Perform job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ensure proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of serving temperatures; follow HACCP standards.
- Personal commitment to your own safety and that of others.
- Abide by company policies: use medium‑weight cut gloves when handling knives or slicers; use oven, fryer or steamer gloves when handling hot pans; wear slip‑resistant shoes and use proper lifting techniques.
Prior cooking or food service experience is required. Candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of this position satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.
