Cook

Overview

The Cook prepares, cooks, and bakes the food that is served for the café, tray line, and dining room following the chef's exact specifications. Working under general supervision, this role also complies with all applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards and follows established food production programs and procedures to ensure a sanitary food preparation environment.

• Calculates the necessary quantities of recipe ingredients to ensure production is correct and that the food is attractively arranged on the plates.
• Follows established procedures for the storage of food, supplies, and equipment in order to comply with sanitation and safety standards.
• Follows standard recipes and utilizes specified preparation techniques to comply with diet requirements and, when needed, provides compliant food substitutions.
• Operates and maintains equipment in accordance with department or manufacturer specifications so that no damage or excessive wear occurs due to non-compliance.
• Offers feedback on recipes or techniques as needed to identify ways to improve their taste.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Education:
  
  High School Diploma or equivalent (Required).
• Experience:
  
  2 years cooking experience (Required).
• Licensure/Certification/Registry/Listing:
  Required.
