Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit

The primary purpose of the UNCG Center for Translational Biomedical Research is to conduct basic and translational research in human diseases, with focuses on biomarkers for early diagnosis of disease, understanding of disease pathogenesis and development of novel interventions for disease prevention and treatment.

Position Summary

The position is expected to focus on lipidomic and metabolomic studies of human diseases, using state-of-the‑art instrumentation and tools for biomarker discovery/validation and a better understanding of the pathogenic mechanism of human disease. The position will perform grant‑funded research projects, including experimental design, sample preparation, data acquisition, data analysis and interpretation, research presentation at national/international meetings, manuscript preparation, and grant proposal preparation.

• PhD in the field of Chemistry or Life Sciences
• Knowledgeable about lipids and metabolites, chromatographic separation, and quantitative data analysis of metabolomics/lipidomic data and biological interpretation of results.

The candidate for this position should be self‑motivated, have critical thinking and independent working skills, possess sufficient communication skills, and the ability to work with others in a collaborative research environment.

This position will work independently with regard to research performance under externally funded grants.

  Develop analytical methods, prepare samples, operate LC‑MS instruments to acquire data.
• Manuscript Preparation and Presentation – 15%:
  Prepare manuscripts for publications and present research findings at scientific meetings.
• Other Duties – 5%:
  Perform other duties as assigned.
