Overview

Lab Manager role at AmSpec Group. Responsible for operations and supervision of Lab personnel. Accountable for keeping the Branch Manager informed of all laboratory testing issues and needs, instrument status and content/accuracy of testing data and results.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and schedule lab assignments to lab technicians and supervisors; oversee all analytical testing work
  • Receiving, compiling, and verifying data from lab testing; document and maintain accurate records for all customer samples
  • Analyze and compile quality control sample results to ensure operating efficiency of processes and/or testing equipment
  • Provide training to laboratory analysts; act as liaison between laboratory technicians and Lab Manager, and between technicians and Operations
  • Prepare corrective and preventative action reports for QA/QC; follow up on non-conformances and implement corrective actions
  • Responsible for achieving revenue and budget performance goals and for personnel staffing levels
  • Perform other related duties as required
  • Safety Sensitive position with pre-employment, random and annual drug and alcohol testing
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of management experience in Petroleum Industry or Associate’s Degree and/or 5+ years of experience in the Petroleum Industry
  • Strong managerial experience and interpersonal skills
  • Technical and theoretical knowledge of laboratory operations
  • Ability to communicate with employees, outside consultants, executive management, and colleagues
  • Thorough understanding of safety and training issues
  • Safety Sensitive position with pre-employment, random and annual drug and alcohol testing
Working Conditions

Work is primarily in a laboratory with some time in an office. May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. AmSpec provides product information, training, engineering controls, and personal protective equipment to protect employees from exposure. Read product information, follow training guidelines, and wear protective equipment, including respiratory protection, as required. The noise level is usually moderate.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for long periods; pass a drug and alcohol tests and fitness/respirator tests as required; pass a physician examination before and during employment; ability to lift/carry up to 45 lbs; ability to work with odors within OSHA PELs.
